Redruth Cricket Club was first mentioned in the Cornish press in 1830 and is the oldest sporting Club in the town. A full history of the Club can be found in a book published to celebrate its 175th Anniversary - Redruth Cricket Club 1830-2005
The Club has always been in or near the top flight of Cornish cricket and its home at Trewirgie overlooking the town and North sea Coast, is the envy of most Clubs in Cornwall.
It fields 4 Senior Teams each week during the season, in the Cornwall Cricket League (currently) County Divisions 1, 2, 6 & 7 and as a result of placing the development of Young People at the top of its cricketing priorities it also has 5 Sections of Junior players – Rising Stars young players from 3 to 9 years old. Under 11’s, 13’s, 15’s and U17's. 2007 saw the club also enter Cornwall's Ladies Sunday league. We pride ourselves on being a 'family club', creating a warm welcome is important to us. The Club has always had a reputation for its friendly Clubhouse and an active Bar & Social Committee plans a varied programme of events both during and “out-of-season”.
Redruth Cricket Club strives to be competitive but not at the expense of being friendly and inclusive. These have been its hallmarks since its foundation and no newcomer, whether they wish to play cricket or simply support the Club through Social membership, need ever be a stranger for long.
