Redruth U13'B' teams second match of the season.
Coming from the U11's or it being your first season in youth cricket, the U13's can be a hard ground to learn match play cricket. Most teams that we play have either County or very experienced youth cricketers in their ranks. Having the numbers that Redruth do in youth cricket we are able to field two team this season at U13's. A great acheivement in one hand, but difficult for the young players of the 'B' team, who are quite inexperienced.

Camborne are a well drilled team under the leadership of Malcolm Polley, Mal is one of crickets nice guys, and it is always a pleasure to travel to play Camborne at the Roskear ground.

Redruth were led by Daniel Eathorne with Jordan Jackson VC, Luke Dennison-Reed, James Levick, Matt Ridout W.C, Scott Gregor, Dominic Barker and William Venton. These eight were joined by A teamers Connor Bray and Liam Eslick and there was a welcome return to Redruth to left armer, Ashley Patch.

Reds won the toss and put Camborne into bat. In the first 8 overs Bray and Patch had managed to peg Camborne to only 5 runs? same the score stood at 19 due to the 14 extras Camborne had amassed through wide balls. Liam Eslick was tidy for the Reds 4 overs 2 maidens no wickets for 5 runs. Jordan Jackson, playing in only his second match for the Reds looks a great prospect with both ball and bat.

For Camborne Ryan Downing looked good with the bat, once settled he scored 16 before being retired. Liam Weeks added some need power to the batting at the end of the innings, scoring a quick 15 to see Camborne move onto 72. The bad news for the Reds being the innings compiled 38 runs from the bat and 34 runs from wides. Ashley Patch returned best figures with the ball 4-0-3-5. Dan Eva looked good, but took himself off to give others a go, a mistake I dont think he will be repeating in a hurry.

Coach Dean Hicks set the batting order, with Jackson and Dennison-Reed opening. The put on a steady 9 runs before D-Reed was bowled by Dale Williams. Liam Eslick looked solid and hyelp keep the scoreboard ticking over at the required rate with Jackson. Both Jackson and Levick were bowled by Aaron Future in his third ove, Jackson scoring 6 and Lavick 0. What looked a good pairing at the crease of Eslick and Patch , turned into a period of safety play. Cambornes bowlers were very good, but the Reds had wickets in hand, but seemed unsure what to do. Eslick finally fell to Rule for 9 runs. Patch batted away hitting out near the end of the inning, but this was to little to late as Camborne won the match by 9 runs. All of cambornes bowlers performed well, Future returning the best with 3-0-2-10.

Redruth look forward to welcoming Camborne to Trewirgie in a few weeks time when they meet the 'A'Team.
