| On a day more for 'ducks' than cricket, Mount Ambrose and Redruth's second XI managed to play one of only 5-6 games held in the county last Saturday.
Mount won the toss and put the reds into bat, on a damp strip. After 48 hours of constant rain the pitch was always going to be difficult to read, with bounce being a lottery. The Reds set a lowish target of 125 all out. Aaron Penberthy showed well for the reds with 29. With the remainder of the runs being shared almost evenly between the rest of the team.
Mount seemed to start at a steady pace, with the visitors bowling and feild initially leaving a lot to be desired. Aaron Penberthy looked sharp for his initial 5 overs with Paul Ladner coming on at the other end. Penberthy took 2 wickets and two fine catches to set Mount on a slipper slope towards defeat. Ladners nearly acheived a hat-trick of LBW the last seeming to be plumb, but the umpire decided today two LB's in a row was enough.
Tim Brockenshire and Simon Johnson looked good for Mount, but when the Reds got Mike Kent early Mount were on a slippery slope.
Redruth won the match by 22 runs and captain Rob Norwell praised his team for their attention to the task.
