The evening was organised by youth section leaders Paul Hancock and Mark Richards and the evening was opened by Chairman Sarah Stevens who welcomed everyone to the evening and provided a brief overview of the season ..

The Rising Stars section (6-10 year olds) enjoyed fun training on Saturday mornings as they develop their cricketing skills at a basic level.

The u11’s were joint league winners and also came second at the St Gluvias Youth Festival.

The u13’s were very successful at St Gluvias this year and won the competition there, plus they came second in the inaugural Duchy district league which took place at Truro CC.

The u15’s came second in their league, however, unfortunately had less success at the St Gluvias Youth Festival this year.

An u17s team was assembled and took part in the St Gluvias Youth Festival and in the usual spirit of a Redruth u17s team, played in brightly coloured kit and entertained the crowd and thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

Through the Chance to Shine initiative, this season also saw the introduction of a girls section atRedruth CC.

(L-R): Kayleigh Richards, Gemma Richards & Emily Penberthy

Chairman, Sarah Stevens, also mentioned the progress of other members from the youth section who have now gained academy places with Gloucestershire CC – Josh Wingfield and Tom Shrewsbury as well as the success of Liam Norwell, who in the summer signed a 2 year full time contract with Gloucestershire CC and is currently in Australia for a five month spell at the Adelaide Cricket Academy and will be playing Saturday cricket for ‘The Eagles’ team who play in the West Torrens District League. Sarah concluded by saying that although for some, there may be progression to a much higher level of the sport, the most important thing is that they all enjoy playing cricket.
